GO MAINE!!

go here:
Tenth Amendment Center » REAL ID: Real Resistance

If only Virginia would do the same...
for that matter, if only congress would do the same!

18.1.07

wait, one more thing

hey. go here. it's awesome.

whoops, forgot to add

hey. forgot:
why does bush, who very recently admitted to being "no expert on military matters," have the power to go against nearly every bit of advice on the planet and deploy 20,000 more troops to Iraq? that just confuses me.
oh, and does anyone know how to get a visa to Canada?

Quote from Paul

"Economically, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims in a sea of oil." --Paul Wolfowitz, commenting on the difference between the situation in Iraq and North Korea.

two movies.

just watched two movies that i haven't seen, even though they've both been out a while. one was woody allen's newest movie, scoop. it was pretty cool. i think it'd be a better theatrical production than a movie, though. the other was MI:III, which i haven't seen yet. it was okay... not great, but okay, which for me is better than most action movies.

hipster PDA

hey. as you may have noticed, i have recently had a strong urge to blog but very, very little to blog about. to remedy this, i have gotten, or rather created, an (or is it a? i'm never sure about h) hipster PDA. you can see more about it here. i will write random crap in it whenever it strikes me, and i may or may not post that random crap here. in other words, if you don't understand a post, it came to me on the bus at 6:30 a.m.

edit: i did not mean that the hipster pda was my idea. i meant i found a cool idea from that site at 43folders and created a hipster pda. so no more confusion.

Driving Lessons

Hey. i just saw a cool movie called Driving Lessons. I thought i probably wouldn't like it (it has rupert grint, from the harry potter movies), but it turned out to have a little of the texture that i like a lot. this texture was in little miss sunshine, everything is illuminated, and a small bit of nacho libre. hey, speaking of Jack Black, can anyone tell me anything about "tenacious d and the pick of doom?" i really want to see that movie. i'm sooo tired from my first two days back at school. i want to go to sleep but i have some more homework i should probably be doing right now. well, i'll get started on that. later.

And just because i'm so ecstatic...

well, as you can see, this is my third post of the day. this time it's not at all related to the new year... well... i guess it sort of is... but not really. it's lyrics! yay!
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play
Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue
It's beautiful and so are you
Dear Prudence won't you come out to play

Dear Prudence open up your eyes
Dear Prudence see the sunny skies
The wind is low the birds will sing
that you are part of everything
Dear Prudence won't you open up your eyes?

Look around round
Look around round round
Look around

Dear Prudence let me see you smile
Dear Prudence like a little child
The clouds will be a daisy chain
So let me see you smile again
Dear Prudence won't you let me see you smile?

Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play
Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue
It's beautiful and so are you
Dear Prudence won't you come out to play

man, i haven't listened to the beatles in a while, at least not this song. i put itunes on shuffle and it played this. i had never thought about this song before, either. it's actually really amazing to listen to a song that you've never thought about before and suddenly listen to it more intensely. it's yet another great feeling i've had within the past 24 hours.

resolutions

whoops, forgot to post resolutions:
(most of these are short-term. i can't ever get long-term stuff to work out.)

I. muster some courage. in general. there are a few specifics, but i don't have the courage at present to publicize them.
II. Ace the Midterms.
III. finish all my homework by the end of the break. (one day left... still time!)
IV. care less about other peoples' opinions of me, and greaten my opinion of myself.
V. be nicer to the people who I haven't been especially great to lately... only three i can think of, but still
VI. there is no six. i probably won't be able to remember 1-5 anyway.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

hey, everyone! i hope this year goes down in history as the second-to-last year of the neo-con regime. even if it doesn't, though, i hope it will at least go into the history books as a year that people started to care about the world we live in, began to show empathy for people around the world. In any case, i had a decent new year's eve. i went to Lucy's house for a party that was meant for adults, but the teens had been invited, too. the guys got locked out of everything the girls were doing, though, and it turns out Lucy had tried to get her parents not to invite us. so that wasn't so great. but it was fun, anyhow. i feel like i can make a difference, for once. i feel like it's a time for new life, almost like it's spring. i'm glad the Roman calendar puts the new year in winter, when everything's bare and the trees aren't as lush as normal. it gives the winter a warmer feeling.

Last post of the year.

i would post this at 12:00 tonight, but i won't be here. i hope you won't be here. i'll be at a party that i halfway want to go to. oh well... so... happy new year. it's sort of an odd new year, isn't it? not odd in the sense that it's strange, but in the sense that the next number isn't really a number you say very often. "hey, i'd like to order 2007 pizzas." "wow! there must be 2007 cubed inches of cake here!" yeah. you just don't. so anyway, happy new year! :)

30.12.06

BACk!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey. i'm BACK! w00t. i haven't slept well the past two nights, though. I can't stop thinking. it's not important thinking that will change anything. i just kind of can't get my brain to shut up. well, i got a few cool songs with my itunes gift cards, and this new PS2 game is pretty cool. it's called "singstar" and it's basically karaoke. and it only has 30 songs, but it's still okay. better designed than any other PS2 game i've ever seen before. i've been wanting a better design for this page for a while. probably a white background this time with some pointless divs that change color when the cursor is over them, using the css "a:hover" pseudo-element. i think that'd look cool. any comments on that would be helpful.

26.12.06

Nebraska

well, i now feel like elaborating on my previous message. those of you that know me know that i spend christmas in Nebraska with my grandparents. this year was awesome. i gave cool presents and got cooler ones. (for instance: a magnetic sculpture thing that you can hold pictures and things in, the who's newest album, an "SNL: best of steve martin" dvd) today we're seeing a movie, probably the pursuit of happiness. (i don't know if this is the actual movie title or not, but the Lincoln paper said that it was called "pursuit of happyness," with "happyness" spelled with a "y." i don't think that's right, but it doesn't have to be correct to be a movie title, so it might be.) and then tomorrow i might finally see the second pirates of the Caribbean movie. yay!

22.12.06

In NE

hey. i'm in nebraska. that's all i feel like posting at present.

22.11.06

In DC for thanksgiving

hey. I'm here in DC for thanksgiving w/ my family. Also, learning why my idea for a flying machine won't work... oh well. it's worth it.

11.11.06

Cool Band

Hey. I went to an indie concert last night at which i was supposed to meet some people. Of course, me being me, and them being them, they didn't show. except wyatt, who left without telling me after 5 mins. Anyway, they missed a 50% decent concert. Philip Uster and The House Floor opened, and they were actually the best of four bands that i saw. they're here. I like Spy Vs. Spy. Anyway, they're really cool. check it out.

Senatorial Race

Hey. If you live in my state and are of voting age please consider the following:

When senator George Allen was asked to comment on his noose, he was quoted as saying this. "I mean, it's a family heirloom. It's been in the family for generations. My father used it, his father used it before him. I'm proud to continue my family's heritage by using it myself today." Now ask yourself: do you want a man who even OWNS a NOOSE? let alone keeps one in his office? even if this wasn't a real quote (what are the chances?), he actually HAS a NOOSE in his office. not to mention his ads suck. they state that marriage between two people of the same gender would "cut against the foundations of our beliefs." I believe that this freedom would do no such thing. the notorious "No. 1" ammendment would enforce allen's views. The ammendment to the VA constitution in question deprives thousands of virginia citizens of their basic rights.

28.10.06

i made a video

I made a video with pics/video of a lot of my friends, and I want to share it, but I can't because of my stupid dial-up. Of course, the next time I'm downtown I can get a wireless signal. But I also don't want to make it too public. Does anyone know a site like youtube except that you can password-protect your videos? If so, please leave the address as a comment. Thanks!

totally weird poem

this is a completely weird and random poem-y thing i wrote... it's different from anything i've ever done or even read before so, yeah...

Once upon a moon, there was an earth, and once upon the earth there was a moon. For when the tenants of the world looked upon the alabaster saucer, it became tethered as a member of the planet, unto itself. And of course this set of events was repeated a plethora of ways, and at the points of these ways’ intersection a million travelers look into each other’s eyes, and can see the transparent shores of the planet with which they are forever entwined. Somehow through all this doubling back on everything that is itself and nothing that is not, the many ones remain. And somehow through the carnage that will always be within the infinite mind of the universe, we are the sole recipient of any real consequence, for everything else repeats itself again, because of its introspect, and lack of concern. Yet, it sees nothing, for only the mirror can see.

17.10.06

i feel like posting lyrics today, so here they are.

pink floyd lyrics.

NOBODY HOME--BY PINK FLOYD--COMPOSED BY ROGER WATERS
I've got a little black book with my poems in.
Got a bag, with a toothbrush and a comb in,
When I'm a good dog, they sometimes throw me a bone in.

I got elastic bands keepin my shoes on.
Got those swollen hand blues.
Got thirteen channels of shit on the T.V. to choose from.
I've got electric light.
And I've got second sight.
Got amazing powers of observation.
And that is how I know
When I try to get through
On the telephone to you
There'll be nobody home.

I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm.
And the inevitable pinhole burns
All down the front of my favorite satin shirt.
I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.
I've got a silver spoon on a chain.
I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains.

I've got wild staring eyes.
And I've got a strong urge to fly.
But I got nowhere to fly to.
Ooooh, Babe when I pick up the phone

"Surprise, surprise, surprise..." (from Gomer Pyle show)
There's still nobody home.

I've got a pair of Gohills boots
and I got fading roots.
