Last post of the year.

i would post this at 12:00 tonight, but i won't be here. i hope you won't be here. i'll be at a party that i halfway want to go to. oh well... so... happy new year. it's sort of an odd new year, isn't it? not odd in the sense that it's strange, but in the sense that the next number isn't really a number you say very often. "hey, i'd like to order 2007 pizzas." "wow! there must be 2007 cubed inches of cake here!" yeah. you just don't. so anyway, happy new year! :)

BACk!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey. i'm BACK! w00t. i haven't slept well the past two nights, though. I can't stop thinking. it's not important thinking that will change anything. i just kind of can't get my brain to shut up. well, i got a few cool songs with my itunes gift cards, and this new PS2 game is pretty cool. it's called "singstar" and it's basically karaoke. and it only has 30 songs, but it's still okay. better designed than any other PS2 game i've ever seen before. i've been wanting a better design for this page for a while. probably a white background this time with some pointless divs that change color when the cursor is over them, using the css "a:hover" pseudo-element. i think that'd look cool. any comments on that would be helpful.

Nebraska

well, i now feel like elaborating on my previous message. those of you that know me know that i spend christmas in Nebraska with my grandparents. this year was awesome. i gave cool presents and got cooler ones. (for instance: a magnetic sculpture thing that you can hold pictures and things in, the who's newest album, an "SNL: best of steve martin" dvd) today we're seeing a movie, probably the pursuit of happiness. (i don't know if this is the actual movie title or not, but the Lincoln paper said that it was called "pursuit of happyness," with "happyness" spelled with a "y." i don't think that's right, but it doesn't have to be correct to be a movie title, so it might be.) and then tomorrow i might finally see the second pirates of the Caribbean movie. yay!

22.12.06

In NE

hey. i'm in nebraska. that's all i feel like posting at present.

22.11.06

In DC for thanksgiving

hey. I'm here in DC for thanksgiving w/ my family. Also, learning why my idea for a flying machine won't work... oh well. it's worth it.

11.11.06

Cool Band

Hey. I went to an indie concert last night at which i was supposed to meet some people. Of course, me being me, and them being them, they didn't show. except wyatt, who left without telling me after 5 mins. Anyway, they missed a 50% decent concert. Philip Uster and The House Floor opened, and they were actually the best of four bands that i saw. they're here. I like Spy Vs. Spy. Anyway, they're really cool. check it out.

Senatorial Race

Hey. If you live in my state and are of voting age please consider the following:

When senator George Allen was asked to comment on his noose, he was quoted as saying this. "I mean, it's a family heirloom. It's been in the family for generations. My father used it, his father used it before him. I'm proud to continue my family's heritage by using it myself today." Now ask yourself: do you want a man who even OWNS a NOOSE? let alone keeps one in his office? even if this wasn't a real quote (what are the chances?), he actually HAS a NOOSE in his office. not to mention his ads suck. they state that marriage between two people of the same gender would "cut against the foundations of our beliefs." I believe that this freedom would do no such thing. the notorious "No. 1" ammendment would enforce allen's views. The ammendment to the VA constitution in question deprives thousands of virginia citizens of their basic rights.

i made a video

I made a video with pics/video of a lot of my friends, and I want to share it, but I can't because of my stupid dial-up. Of course, the next time I'm downtown I can get a wireless signal. But I also don't want to make it too public. Does anyone know a site like youtube except that you can password-protect your videos? If so, please leave the address as a comment. Thanks!

totally weird poem

this is a completely weird and random poem-y thing i wrote... it's different from anything i've ever done or even read before so, yeah...

Once upon a moon, there was an earth, and once upon the earth there was a moon. For when the tenants of the world looked upon the alabaster saucer, it became tethered as a member of the planet, unto itself. And of course this set of events was repeated a plethora of ways, and at the points of these ways’ intersection a million travelers look into each other’s eyes, and can see the transparent shores of the planet with which they are forever entwined. Somehow through all this doubling back on everything that is itself and nothing that is not, the many ones remain. And somehow through the carnage that will always be within the infinite mind of the universe, we are the sole recipient of any real consequence, for everything else repeats itself again, because of its introspect, and lack of concern. Yet, it sees nothing, for only the mirror can see.

i feel like posting lyrics today, so here they are.

pink floyd lyrics.

NOBODY HOME--BY PINK FLOYD--COMPOSED BY ROGER WATERS
I've got a little black book with my poems in.
Got a bag, with a toothbrush and a comb in,
When I'm a good dog, they sometimes throw me a bone in.

I got elastic bands keepin my shoes on.
Got those swollen hand blues.
Got thirteen channels of shit on the T.V. to choose from.
I've got electric light.
And I've got second sight.
Got amazing powers of observation.
And that is how I know
When I try to get through
On the telephone to you
There'll be nobody home.

I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm.
And the inevitable pinhole burns
All down the front of my favorite satin shirt.
I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.
I've got a silver spoon on a chain.
I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains.

I've got wild staring eyes.
And I've got a strong urge to fly.
But I got nowhere to fly to.
Ooooh, Babe when I pick up the phone

"Surprise, surprise, surprise..." (from Gomer Pyle show)
There's still nobody home.

I've got a pair of Gohills boots
and I got fading roots.

terrible stuff happening lately

Well, on wednesday a former teacher in our school district (retired in 2003 but substitutes sometimes), and manager of a local school, was arrested on molestation charges. to say that he was a trusted member of the community would be an understatement. Everyone knew and liked him. Completely trusted. He is currently in a jail cell in ohio, where the charges were filed. He tried to kill himself twice. This is Mr. Utin, who i never saw without a smile on his face. I really don't know what to think. Does it make him a bad person?

Christiansburg Institute

Hey everybody. (yeah, all three of you). Today was pretty boring. except i started research on my NHD project (the Christiansburg Institute). it's actually really interesting, but i won't go into detail right now.

Little Miss Sunshine

I am adding "Little Miss Sunshine," an R movie about a family on a road trip, to my list of two (now three) favorite movies of all time (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Everything is illuminated, and Little Miss Sunshine). it has a little of the feel of everything is illuminated, but it's mind bogglingly funny.

hmmm... stupid thoughts about the meaning of life and rantings

maybe it would have been better if man hadn't come up with agriculture. if you think about it, we'd all be living exactly the same: hunting every day for food. no division of labor, which allows for control of others, and corruption. No abusing nature: we'd still be a part of nature. no pondering the meaning of life (we wouldn't have time). Unfortunately, we did discover/invent (very confusing words) agriculture. And now, in 2006, i find myself pondering questions that have existed for thousands, even millions of years. what is the purpose of life? first off: It must absolutely depend on your beliefs. if you believe in a deity, or something to that effect, a heaven, an afterlife, your purpose in life will generally be to make the time on this earth more bearable for others around you. If you believe in logic and logic alone, which is in itself a flawed system, you will eventually come to the conclusion that you should do whatever will give you the most pleasure, because that is what will a. forward the human race, due to our instinct, and b. please us for that reason and that alone, because we like it. no further explanation will ever be given. I will now explain my previous statement that logic is flawed. about fifty percent of logic is based on the idea that if an event or series of events or a consequence of an action is repeted many times, it will always happen that way. for instance, if a ball is dropped, it will be pulled towards the body which exerts the most gravity or other force on it. this is completely stupid, if you really think. So what if it's happened before. maybe the ball will fall upwards. maybe it has already happened, and maybe it never will again, but there is simply no sense basing anything on the scientific laws. you might as well believe in a religion.

Fourth Week of school over.

well, it's been a while since i posted, as i have been notified by a source who wished for his/her name and gender to be withheld. So i would like to take this opportunity to state the following: "Hey, mister. I bet you never smelled a real schoolbus before! SNFFF!"
also:
"Cameron:
The 1961 Ferrari, two-fifty GT California. Less than a hundred were made. My father spent three years restoring this car. It is his love, it is his passion . . .
Ferris:
It is his fault he didn't lock the garage."
FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!
FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!

and yes, FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF!

first week of school over!

well, the summer is most definitely over forever. and there will never be a summer like this one again. But there will be others, that will be just as awesome and amazing. And yet, this summer is over. somehow that makes me feel like something's terribly wrong. But the school year is shaping up pretty well, i guess. not perfect, by any means. but okay. and i guess that's enough. I wonder why events in real life are never as exciting, romantic, or happy as they always are on tv.

To Chicago!

well, here I am in chicago. it is my last trip of the summer, and it's very sad. only 2.5 weeks. well, we went on a boat tour and saw the art museum. yesterday we saw the aquarium, which doesn't hold a candle to the Baltimore one. So far, that's essentially all we've done. you can see some pictures i took and liked at my other blog, http://truthvista.blogspot.com/ leave some comments, I'm trying to learn to take some pictures people will actually enjoy.

22.7.06

To the Beach!!!

Well, after a six hour drive, I made it to the Beach. I was forced to eat at a vietnamese restaurant, despite the fact that there were several other restaurants along the way, and chinese and vietnamese are my least favorite of all foods. I will be posting some pictures of my first few hours at the beach at http://truthvista.blogspot.com/ so you can see it there. all in all, so far it's been pretty boring, but i think it'll get better.

17.7.06

yet another politically minded post

trickle down economy doesn't work in a country where the biggest businesses (**cough**Wal-Mart**cough**) outsource the majority of their labor, and the labor they use that is in America (cashiers) is forced to give what they earn back to buy food and neccessities.

16.7.06

two words: kyoto protocol

how can you watch a documentary on global warming and not believe that it exists? our children, their children, everyone. Do you want them to live in the kind of world we're creating? Or do you subscribe to the Groucho Marx quote: "posterity? what's posterity ever done for me?" something needs to be done now. like it or not, we're killing the planet. Think about it. by using E85 ethanol, we are going to be completely free of our dependence on middle eastern oil. Do you enjoy the high gas prices whenever Israel is attacked, attacks someone, or the U.S. doesn't do so well in Iraq. so on the off chance that the entire scientific community isn't full of wackos, please try and do something.

"Won't need no haircut/
won't need no shoeshine/
after the garden is gone"

15.7.06

As I write this, it is 5:15, the 15th of July, 2006. I am listening to public radio. The conflict in the middle east is becoming worse and worse. Bush is talking nonsense about "short term and long tem goals," while not actually doing anything to the effect of peacemaking. I am beginning to believe that the world is going crazy. Israel, Hizbollah, Lebanon, Syria. America, The United Kingdom, The United Nations, Russia. North Korea and their missiles. What's Going On?

14.7.06

Gaaahhh!!! annoyed.

don't you hate programs that only let you undo one action? Y'know, and then if you click "undo" again, it redoes the thing you undid in the first place? is anyone else annoyed by that?

Still More lyrics.

yet again, no music to go along with it:

and now i lay me down to sleep

i ask the board my soul to keep

and should i wake before i die

i'll pay the court my soul to try

and if naught's sure but death and tax

i'll lay my soul upon the tracks

i'll take my cross and bear my pain

and joy will come to me again

sound of silence hold me tight

I've lost my country on this night

truth or falsehood, who can say?

Politics rule the world today

There is no meaning 'neath the veil

Just lawyers' hands, so cold and pale

Men and women of the jury

Bathe us in your joyful fury

he's killed so many souls before

bloodlust avenged with one more

Song Lyrics

Here are some lyrics i wrote. They don't have a tune, so as of right now they're really just a poem.

Hitchhike to happiness

Heartless artichoke and soulless shoe

Ingredients for the witches brew

Ragnarok is come

Just stick out your thumb

Hitchhike to happiness

Hitchhike to happiness

It’s okay, Lose yourself under the floor

Lose a moment, then you lose ten more

Look what you’ve become

Just stick out your thumb

Hitchhike to happiness

Hitchhike to happiness

The confused heart and the broken mind

Peace and calm will come to both in time

Colored glass indeed

Plant a soul tree seed

Hitchhike to happiness

Hitchhike to happiness

And there’s gotta be an easier way

To let the world go on with its day

Windows cannot lie

Grounded souls can fly

Hitchhike to happiness

Hitchhike to happiness

Weird, sorta emo poem

I was at a concert last night, and the smell of BO, beer, and cigarettes in a cramped room must have gotten to me. I wrote the following lines of poetry:

Can you hear the truth of the words of the silent?

The truth that we’re all dead

The truth it’s in your head

Hell from the sax, in a cold, whispered rasp

Can you grasp the truth of the sounds of the voiceless?

Cymbals twisted into deathly faces Blood scores across her cheek

Go and seek the truth of the voice of the muted

the surreal touch of the night seeps in

bleeds into your pulse. you begin

to believe that the streets can breathe.
